Regular Season 2010-2011

Head Coach Ted Urschel

Head Coach Ted Urschel started playing hockey at the age of 3 years old.  He began by playing AA Hockey in Peoria, Illinois, AAA hockey in Philadelphia, PA and High school hockey in Red Wing, MN which gives him an immense knowledge of the different styles of hockey that are played in the United States.

After moving to Red Wing, Minnesota Ted played a key role on the Red Wing High School team which lost in the class A championship game his senior year.  After high school Ted played 3 seasons in the Minnesota Junior Hockey League for both the St. Paul Lakers and Twin Cities Northern Lights where he was a 2-time all-star.  During his last season with the Lights, Ted scored 72 points which is still a team record for most points in the regular season.  After juniors, Ted played Division III college hockey for Hamline University in the MIAC.

Ted began his coaching career as an Assistant Coach with the Hudson Crusaders during their inaugural 2007-2008 season and took over full-time Head Coaching duties midway through the 2009-2010 season.

Ted credits past coaches like George Nemanich (Red Wing HS), Don Babineau, Eric Fink (Tri-City Storm) and Scott Bell (Hamline University) with helping him learn more about the game of hockey and developing him into the coach he is today.

Ted currently resides in Hudson, WI where he is an EMT-Basic for the St Croix EMS ambulance service.

During the season Nick was traded to the Northern Michigan Black Bears of the NOJHL where during his last season he was a captain.  Nick was offered a walk-on position with the Lake Superior State Division I college hockey team but during playoffs Nick tore all the ligaments in his right shoulder which ended his career.

Nick began his coaching career as an Assistant Coach with the UW-Stout womens hockey team.  He was then promoted to Head Coach his 2nd year with the program.  After Stout, Nick was offered the student coaching position with the Crusaders and through hard work was made a full time Assistant Coach before the 2009-2010 season.  Nick will also coach the 96's of the Minnesota Mavericks AAA team this summer.

Don began coaching immediately after his playing career where he was an Assistant Coach with the Minnesota Owls.  He then took over as Head Coach of the Northwest Knights and was named MNJHL coach of the year.  After this Don was hired as the Head Coach of the St. Paul Lakers where he helped turn around the program from a bottom end team to a 3rd place finish in his first year.  Don coached both Crusader coaches Ted Urschel and Nick Adamek during his time with the Lakers.  Don was then hired as the Head Coach of the Hudson Crusaders midway through the 2007-2008 season after a 11-9 start.  Don led the Crusaders to 30-16-1-1 finish good for 3rd place and another MNJHL coach of the year award.  After the 2008-2009 season Don stepped down to be closer to his family and help coach the upstart Minnesota Wildcats.  During the middle of the 2009-2010 season Don realized he missed the family he left behind at the Hudson Crusaders and returned to an Assistant Coaching position.
