The Owls Friday night Victory over the Ice Hawks was a reason to celebrate. But that wasn't all that was celebrated at David C Johnson Arena. The other reason for celebrating was Dave Druk's 250th game as public address announcer for the Minnesota Owls. Dave started with the Owls 10 years ago when their home was in Blaine MN at Fogerty Arena. Dave is more than just a public address announcer he is also a showman. Dave has a knack for getting the fans involved in the game. He has a way of creating sound effects with his mixer that offers up more than just your normal music and will definitely put a smile on your face. Dave comes prepared to the game and is a wealth of information He could tell you just about any statistic you'd want to know and not just for the Owls but the entire league. When not announcing Dave writes articles for the Owls and is involved in on and off ice promotions. His involvement with hockey doesn't stop with the Owls and MNJHL. Dave is also co owner of Northland Hockey Group which provides the largest off season league play in the Upper Midwest for ages Mites thru Highs School boys and girls. Dave's life is hockey. No matter when you call him it doesn't matter what time of day 365 days a year Dave will be doing something that involves hockey. By Russ Eastburn / ESP1000

Minnesota Owls Cancer Awareness Night Is Huge Success!
By Colin Dickey
The Minnesota Owls would like to thank everyone who supported their Breast Cancer Awareness Night on Friday Oct. 21. It was a great night of both hockey and fund raising which culminated in raising $4000.00 for the Harbor Room Cancer Resource Center which is located at the Cambridge Medical Center. The Owls played in pink jerseys which were bid on during the game by their loyal fans in a silent auction. After some last minute, frenzied bidding, the lucky winners were awarded their jerseys at the end of the game by the players themselves. It was a great show of support by our Owls fans! The Blaine Jaycees were also extremely generous, and donated $200.00 for every puck Owls Assistant Coach's Travis Kuznia and Dennis Johnson put in the net, in a contest during the first intermission. The coachs netted 9 out of 10 goals from the blue line, for a total of $1800.00! The Blaine Jaycees then donated $200.00 more by bidding and winning Kyle Johnson’s pink jersey. We would like to thank the Jaycee s for their wonderful donation of $2000.00 total! The outcome on the ice was not what everyone hoped, with the Owls losing in a shootout 3-2, but in the end it was a fun night for all, with the most important part being, the money raised will help support local cancer patients and their families.
